Default Relpaced magnatron--Still no heat
Model Number: jvm1631wb002   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Touch pad, turntable, fan, lights, all work but it will not heat. It loads up as if it were heating with a somewhat louder humming noise. I have replaced the Magnatron but with no results.(waveguide shows some discoloration from heat). With door closed i have 2 door switches with continuity and 1 without. All heat sensors appear to be working. I checked for continuity of the HV capasitor (two treminals)and got nothing. and on the HV Diode(does not appear to have been hot, nor blowing fuses) and got a reading of 16.6 BOTH ways. Can you suggest a cure? THANKS

you will not get any continuity at the capacitor you need a capacitor tester for accurate measurements, if you replaced the magnatron and have a loud humming noise is either coming from capacitor, or diode, but you might have a bad transformer in theat case it really sound loud, i would replace the capacitor it is the biggest issue on GE maicrowaves they are usually 92 uf, but you can use a QB capacitor, do not go any higher than 5 uf over, plus the QB parts are lots less in cost than manufactures parts.

Always replace the HV Diode when changing a mag tube. Also if you have a burn mark on the wave guide, the new mag wont last very long. Did the end of the old tube look melted and burned?
