Cooktop lite

Model Number: 8074-004 Brand: -other- Age: More than 10 years

I just replaced the lamp in the cooktop lite and it will not turn on without several attempts. The ends of the lamp glow, but then go out when the button is released. After several attempts it will sometimes stay on. Is there a starter somewhere that must be replaced?
