Model Number: SCA2000BBB03 Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
I have an Advantium Oven model SCA2000BBB 03. It was manufactured in 1999.
Early on, the microwave componenent stopped working (after perhaps a year). We've been using it as a conventional oven. About a year ago the oven began shutting down during the cooking process. It would beep and display an F-3 message on the display. I'd unplug it for a few minutes and it would work again. Now however it shows the F-3 message doesn't operate normally after unpluging the power cord. The clock feature will blink. Rotating the main control button will allow me to change the hour but it doesn't respond when I push that button to set the time. Is there anything that I can do to get the appliance working again? I shudder to think how much in home service will cost on this thing. Purchasing a new one is not possible at this time. I expected a lot more from this in terms of quality and performance. The plastics are cheap and prone to cracking. It was way overpriced and still is. Thanks in advance Frank Ads By Google Related Models |

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted keypad.
On this model, it's the circuit board that has the switch mounted on it and it's called the control panel assembly. The part number you need is WB07X10267 and you can get it here for $153.40 (compared to a whopping $225.75 from GE!). We have the full service & installation manual and have uploaded it to our site here to help you. It will show you step by step how to do the disassembly and replace the bad part. We'll probably be able to help you get the microwave part going, too. Just let us know how it failed, and what the exact symptoms were or are. When you pressed "Start" to microwave, did / does the unit make any usual noise (groaning, gurgling, etc.?) or was / is it either louder or quieter than normal? It may be as simple as the top door switch or its mount or it may be a bad magnetron or shorted diode. IMPORTANT: This model has a 10-year warranty on the magnetron. All you have to do is call GE at 888-239-6832 and tell them you have a bad magnetron and would like one sent to you. Be ready with your model number, serial number, and the date on the tag in the unit (or if that's past ten years, the date you put it in service or purchased it). I'd hate to see you let the mag warranty expire if you need a new mag! But if so, you can get one here. Also, the halogen speed cook lamps have a ten-year warranty, too! Let us know how the microwave part failed and acted. Last edited by MicrowaveDisplaycom : 12-12-2009 at 08:51 PM. |
