Model Number: SCA2000BWW 03   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years   

I know the part I need and would like help in removing door to replace broken latch. Part #WB10X10021 .

I do not think you have to remove the whole door for this job.

Remove the choke cover first and you should get access to the door latch. The video clip from one of previous posts can help you.

- The APP part number for the door latch is AP2020315

Here are the break down diagrams for the GE microwave Model SCA2000BWW03

Hi JF1942 & Gene. I have similar problem. Will a broken Part Number AP2020315 keep the microwave from heating? The microwave was working fine a few minutes before the latch broke. My Model Number is GE, SCA1000HWW02 from Year 2005. The microwave acts exactly the way it used to except since breaking the latch, it just won't heat anything up. Thanks.

Yes, definitely it will. Replacing this door latch & spring assembly should solve the problem.

Would I have to do anything or fix anything on the Microwave itself? Like the area where the latch actually locks into? I have already ordered the part and should get it by Friday at the latest. I will update the results and hopefully everything will work and heat the contents. Thanks.

I changed the latch last night and well, everything is back to normal. Thanks for all of your help.
