Microwave hums and heats unless unplugged

Samsung microwave fourteen months old. Put a mug of water in to heat and when it was done, I removed the mug and closed the door. Although the heating cycle was finished, the microwave hummed loudly—sounding like a frozen electric motor. Put the mug back into the microwave and, though no buttons were pushed and the turntable remained still, the water continued to heat as the low hum continued.
All the controls seem to work normally—I can add time, push the start button, cancel, etc. When I do, the light comes on, the turntable turns and the microwave heats. It’s just that when the timer runs out, the mug is removed and the door closes again, the hum continues (as does the heating with no light and no turntable turning). Open the door and the humming stops. Any ideas?
