We have a Frigidaire Microwave Oven which we installed above the oven.
Two days ago coming back from my business, I went to warm some pasta and after 30 seconds the unit made a weird noise and goes poof. I was left with cold pasta for lunch (what a great monday)
I come back and do some googling to find where the fuse is. I found the top panel and removed it carefully. I was able to access the board containing the fuse and I had a spare 250V 20amps.
The fuse in the microwave that blew out was a 125v 20amps. I went ahead and installed the new ceramic fuse 250v 20a and reinstalled everything and the microwave turned on. I set the timer at 30 seconds and hit start. 1-2 seconds later the thing blows the 2nd fuse.
Now I am left with cold pasta and cold tea for the week. I am waiting for my dad to find the receipt when he comes back during the weekend. It might be under warranty I hope.
The whole microwave is full of grease. Could it be the reason why its short circuiting? I am see people saying the magnetron could be the problem.
Thank you.
