Model Number: mmv4205bab Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
Just moved into a 3 yr. old home. The Maytag over range Microwave seems to work fine, but the display is dim and barely readable. It looks like a 25 yr. calculator when they first had LED displays. Plus the clock feature won't program. Entering time and/or power levels are no problem. At times, it seems like there is a series of numbers scrolling rapidly in the top right corner of the display, but everything is so dim, it is hard to see.
Any suggestions? Thanks! Related Models |

This is a model made by Samsung, so parts are way cheaper if you order the Samsung party as opposed to the identical but highly overpriced Maytag/Whirlpool part.

You can look on the circuit board tag to find the original Samsung part number. Yours may be "RAS-MOTR2V-02" on yours. The one below is RAS-MOTR2V-00. At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes. One thing you could do is clean the front of the display glass and the rear of the display window, which will probably brighten things up so you can see well enough to know you're programming it right. Unplug the keypad (as per the photo below) and remove the circuit board from the frame. Be careful, since the VFD is glass. ![]() Use a soft cloth (not a paper towel, which can scratch) dampened with a non-ammonia cleaner (since ammonia can craze some plastics) to gently wipe off the rear of the display window and the front of the display glass. Before you put it back together, use a soft pencil eraser to gently clean off the conductors on both sides the tip of the keypad strip. Sometimes residue can get in there and interfere with the connections. Then put it all back together and try to program it. If some keys don't work, you need a keypad, too. ![]() You can enter your board's part number and order it here. Quote:
It may just be that the dim display is confusing things, but it may be that you also need a new membrane keypad in addition to the PCB. If you'll clarify, I can probably make a judgment about that. The membrane switch for yours would be Samsung part number DE34-00233D and you can get it for $20.05 here. To help you program it, you can download the owner's manual here. To help you remove it from the wall (if you should ever need to) you can download the installation instructions here. I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved. It's here.
