I had my Whirlpool microwave repaired under an extended service plan. They had to replace the glass door touch panel, user interface board and yolk. When the tech had assembled the whole door, he noticed that there were fingerprints inside the glass and commented what a pain it is to take this apart again, I assume in the hope that I would say forget it. But I wanted my microwave intact without fingerprints inside the glass. So he took the door off again and cleaned the glass and reassembled and remounted the door. I noticed sometime later in the weeks following that when I opened and closed the door, there was a rubbing noise but it worked and I figured it was just one of those things that happens when you have to take something apart. That's what I'm told about my car. There might be squeaks or creaks then. So I didn't think anything of it. Then about 2 weeks ago I opened the door and a couple of small, plastic pieces came flying out from around the bottom hinge area. Then the next day the door handle cracked. Then a few days later, the bottom of the door handle completely broke away from the door. I have to use two hands to open and close the door. My husband and I believe the door was misaligned since we see where it is rubbing and wearing away the metal strip on the bottom of the door. The appliance repair provider says it is impossible to have the door misaligned. If it were, circuits would blow out. The warranty company won't cover this because the microwave works. It doesn't cover handles, plastic, hinges. I want to know if, when reinstalling the microwave door, can it, in fact, be misaligned causing the bottom left corner (the side where the hinges are) to rub and put pressure on the metal trim on the bottom, in turn putting pressure on that metal piece which put pressure on the bottom of the handle causing it to break?
