This is more of an electrical question. The person who owned this house had an above range microwave installed and the item died on me. Attempting to remove it, I had to sawzall the bolts out to begin with, as there is no cabinet; it's tied into the attic. The problem is.... The microwave is hardwired and the wire isn't able to be traced without massive deconstruction of the attic floorboards. I would like to remove the lead from a live source in order to install a hood vent. Could somebody please point me in the right direction?

I am qualified electrically but have never worked on house power.
