I ordered and received a new thermostat for my GE Profile Spacemaker microwave (PVM1870SM3SS). This is the second time the thermostat "fried." I'm attempting to replace the thermostat myself vs. calling the repairman and paying +$200. I located the thermostat and removed it. One of the wires was fried on one end. If I cutoff the damaged portion of the wire, it is then too short to reach the thermostat. I can barely read the information on the wire--black A 105 C 16 AWG F G NT LF.... I'm not an electrician--is it appropriate to use 105 C 16 AWG wire from the hardware store and use a "buttsplice"? Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
