Samsung microwave power failure - Help on door latch terminal test
Model Number: SHM9187W Brand: Samsung Age: 1 - 5 years
My Samsung microwave had a power failure about 6 months ago. The problem was resolved by unplugging the cord, removing the front display panel, then pulling and re‑installing the 2 high voltage fuses (250V-20A) on the board behind the display panel. After reassembly and plugging in the cord, the microwave powered on until this last Tuesday.
Complete power failure again.
The Microwave-Repair-Help web page (Appliancepartspros.com) indicated that the power failure may be due to a defective door switch and describes how to test the terminals with a volt-ohm meter as follows:
· Bad door switch [/font]
If your microwave does not work at all and you know everything is plugged in properly and the outlet is functioning, then also check the door hooks and the door release button. Using a volt-ohm meter on RX1, check your terminals. When your microwave door is closed you should have a reading of zero. Once the door is open the reading should change to infinity. If these readings do not match up, replacement of the door switch is necessary. However, I need help on performing the test. Where are the terminals located? There are 3 switches adjacent to (left of) the front display panel - 2 located behind the bottom door latch and 1 located behind the top door latch. All 3 switches have two terminals, one terminal protrudes (sticks out) farther than the other terminal.
Which switch provides main power to the microwave oven? Because sometimes if I wiggle one or both bottom door switches or the wire harnesses, the main power is restored!!
Followup: If no LEDs on the display panel light up, do I have a complete power failure? If so, How can I check if there is current across the terminals??
