Model Number: 66568680891 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
When I went to reheat a cup of coffee, I got a loud buzz when I hit "start". I hit "cancel" immediately, and tried it again, same loud buzz ,this time accompanied with strong odor of melting components.Found this forum on my computer, checked my magnetron using procedure suggested on a posting. When probing either contact of the magnetron to ground I get a reading of @24 ohms- that means its "shorted"-correct? So....now about the odor , I can see some smoke residue on the sheet metal around the transformer. Should I be testing it as well? If so what is my procedure? This unit is 15 years old ,should I just replace it?What made the magnetron short?
