Model Number: MMV5156AAQ Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
Microwave just stopped heating food but seems to be operating otherwise. Fan , light, turntable, light all work. All components (magnatron, transformer, capacitor, diode, and fuse) check out with ohmmeter. It has a distinct electrical burning smell when operated. I just examined this closely while operating and notice a distinct stream of smoke emanating from a small hole in the magnatron case adjacent to the connector.
What is this telling me? Has the magnatron failed? Has something else failed causing this problem? Ads By Google Related Models |

Instructions on Tech Sheet in oven say a good diode should check "infinite" in both directions with ohmmeter on Rx1000. The instruction sheets provided by Simon to another Posting say diode test should indicate "continuity" in one direction and "infinite" in the other. Which is correct?

Hi.
Check out this post diode testing To check the diod for continuity your meter should be set for at least 100K ohm. Sounds like you have a bad magnetron Part number: 53001044 Here are the breakdown diagram and 05-Internal Controls parts for Maytag MMV5156AAQ - AppliancePartsPros.com Post the results. Simon.
