Yesterday My LG Microwave modle # LMVM2277ST just stopped working. I went to heat up some water and typed in the desired time. At first, after pressing start the microwave beeped like always but the table top did not move nor did it sound like it was running. The time on the display just ran down then beeped again once done like always. I tried it once more this time the table top rotated and the power level read 100%. Once done, I grabbed the water from the microwave but the water was still cold. After rwo more attempts with the sme resault I decided to look closer at the unit. At one time I even pressed against the upper left corner of the door for some reason and it worked for a second but then stopped. Not knowing to much about how to repair it I did what seemed lodgical and decided to clead the carbon filter hoping that was the right fix hoping that it was just clogged.
Prior cleaning the filter I noticed that all of My sensor controls seemed to work fine / display but once they were punched in and I pressed start it wouldn't work. My inside and counter top lights worked as well as My exhaust fan on all levels.
As I opened the inclosure to remove and inspect the filter I noticed a wire harness coming from the left door panel pluggingg into the unit it's self from the the door control panel. When I went to move this harness just a little to get the inclosure back in place I noticed that the harness was covered with electric tap. With a closer inspection of the wire I noticed the several of the wires were cut in half and it appeared as if someone had placed tap around them to keep them in place or hopfully together but over the course of time open and closing of the door they came apart.
Not knowing if this was the resault of My problem I spoke with a so called Tech at a local store and they assurred Me that this was not My problem and that I needed to replace the fuse because I wasn't getting enough current needed to run My LG microwave or that I had larger problems. When I questioned him about the cut wires he said that obviously someone made a mistake and taped it but they were obsolete wires and couldn't be the cause.
Like I stated, I have full display on the control panel. The clock works fine as do all the pre sets, but once I press start nothing happens. If I type in a cooking time all that happens is that the unit beeps like always and the time runs down. But now neither the fan or lights work on the unit. but I still have all the beeps and so on when I press buttons. A closer look at the wire harness which comes from the control panel to the unit it's self like i said has about 12-14 wires cut in half which can't be good. Before I start investing in parts which may or may not help can anyone please help me out just seems like the real problem is the wire harnes which makes sense to me but I'm not an expert.
Please help any advise will do Thanks.
