My GE microwave (model jvm17405m1ss...installed above the stove) made a buzzing noise for two seconds and then stopped working. The sound was the sound you would associate with an electrical short. It made the digital display flicker just before it went black. I tried to unplug it, let it rest, then plug it back in.... Nothing. It's only 3 1/2 years old. Any ideas? HELP! Thank You.

Hi.

Most likely there is a blown fuse. the reason is bad diod, capacitor or magnetron.
Remove the top grill and you should be able to get to the diod, hi-voltage capacitor and fuse.

Here are the breakdown diagram and Microwave parts for GE JVM1740SM2SS - AppliancePartsPros.com

Use this link for test instructions.

Simon.
