When I try to turn the florescent (surface light) on, if I hold the switch down, the light will stay on . When the switch is released the light go's off. I now have this little beauty scattered around my living room looking for clues to its problem ..or mine. My question is ..on this early model is there a starter or pre start for the light or is the ballast a rapid start ? I know it isn't a ista-start as the tube has two prongs on either end . The problem is most likely the ballast. The starter can usually be removed when the light is on and the light will stay on. When the light won't turn on it's usually the starter and yours is turning on. Use this part number WB2X1546
