Our >10 year old microwave in our microwave/oven combo was not working. Since it was a combo unit we wanted to see if we could repair the microwave rather than replace the whole unit.
Repairman came out and diagnosed that the magnetron and a diode needed repair. He estimated the repair at $300-400 for parts and labor so we told him to go forward. He needed to order and pick up the parts and come back later.
Two days later her returned with the parts and installed them. The microwave was still not working.
He diagnosed that a wire/cable needed to be replaced. We told him to do the replacement. After replacing the wire the microwave was still not working. He then diagnosed that the board needed replacement, but could not be sure that the microwave would then be fixed.
Based on the uncertainty that the board would complete the repair we decided to stop the repair process and replace the microwave/oven combo.
What should we owe the repairman? Parts? Labor? Parts and labor?
