Model Number: JVM1870SF001 Brand: GE Age: 1 - 5 years
This 5 yr. old microwave started dispaying an F3 error code, beeping and the touchpad was totally unresponsive. After researching on GE Support website and reading on this forum, it seemed that the solution was to replace the touchpad/control panel. I ordered p/n AP3418746; received it today and installed it. I still get the F3 error code. After plugging in power cord, the display show "Press Clock" but does not recognize when I perform that function, then eventually displays the F3 code and starts to beep. What else could be wrong? Is the "smart board" possibly bad?
Thanks for your help. Jerry Related Models |

F3 is a shorted keypad error, but it's possible that a short on the board (due to moisture, grease, or a failed component) may cause the F3 error, too.
You should check the board connector and both sides of that general area for any deposits. Yours should have a "mini-manual" (technical sheet) hidden either behind the grille or control panel. It's very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components. You can test this: Unplug the oven, swing down your control panel, unplug the new keypad, swing the controller back up and plug the oven in. Then wait for over a minute and see if you still get the F3 error. If so, the probpoem is on the board. If not, the new keypad is bad or was applied incorrectly, such as over some remnants of the old keypad's adhesive, casuing the surface to be irregular. Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number) for more information & help.
