Our 11 year old GE Spacemaker microwave model JVM1642AB0004 has quit heating. Everything else works. I have removed it and ran the recommended tests on the capacitor, diode, transformer, and magnetron and still cannot pin point the problem.
The capacitor, transformer, and magnetron all passed the recommended tests. The diode is not shorted. There are no signs of distress on the diode. I used a test procedure from several YouTube videos using 120v to measure the potential across the diode. According to the video the potential across the diode should be around 60v. My tests showed approximately 116-117v and therefore I assumed the diode was bad. I ordered a new diode and the microwave still does not heat. I tested the new diode and got the same results. Therefore I assumed that diode was bad. I ordered a second new diode and the microwave still does not heat. I went through all of the test procedures again on the capacitor, transformer, and magnetron. All test results were good. I did not test the second new diode for fear of damaging it. There are no signs of distress on any of the components. I also verified I was getting 120v power to the primary side of the transformer. I would appreciate any suggestions. I can post my test results for any of the components.
