Default Yet Another Broken Microwave Handle
Model Number: JVM1861SF001   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

Searched the previous threads here and still can't seem to get the handle replaced on a JVM1861SF001 microwave.

Removed the choke cover, removed 2 screws, yet there are 2 more screws holding the handle in which are inaccessible because they are behind the main metal assembly. There does not seem to be any way to remove the latch assembly but even if I did it seems the main assembly would still be in the way.

I saw in other forums that some models require the removal of the entire main assembly to get at the 2 remaining screws and that such a repair would require a 'leak test' after re-assembly which I would not be able to do. Say it aint so.

appliancepartspros does not have a diagram for this model.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

The removal of the main door assembly is very possible.

I'm not sure if the radiation leakage test would be required.

I did not work with such doors before. Maybe somebody else on the forum can help you better.

I found the break down diagram for you.

Best regards,
Gene.
