On a Maytag microwave, the LCD display is very dim. It is much dimmer than when the unit was new. I don't see any way to adjust this brightness, so I assume the control for the power to the panel is faulty.

I found a take-apart and it appears this part is AP4262913.

Is there some way I get a more detailed description of that part, or any advice on whether that is what I need?

It is the control PCB (printed circuit board) assembly, and it contains the VFD.

The VFD (vacuum fluorescent display as opposed to LCD, liquid crystal display) is not available as a separate part.

You can sometimes brighten them up a little if you have some smoky dust that's gathered due to static electricity. (That's common)

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Then you disconnect the keypad strip as per the photo below.



Then remove the board from the control panel frame.

Next use a soft cloth (not a paper towel) with a non-ammonia cleaner and wipe off the front of the glass VFD and the rear of the display window in the plastic frame.

That may buy you some time.
