Model Number: MMV4205BAS Brand: Maytag Age: 1 - 5 years
On a Maytag microwave, the LCD display is very dim. It is much dimmer than when the unit was new. I don't see any way to adjust this brightness, so I assume the control for the power to the panel is faulty.
I found a take-apart and it appears this part is AP4262913. Is there some way I get a more detailed description of that part, or any advice on whether that is what I need? Thanks. Related Models |

Check here for AP4262913.
It is the control PCB (printed circuit board) assembly, and it contains the VFD. The VFD (vacuum fluorescent display as opposed to LCD, liquid crystal display) is not available as a separate part. You can sometimes brighten them up a little if you have some smoky dust that's gathered due to static electricity. (That's common) At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes. Then you disconnect the keypad strip as per the photo below. ![]() Then remove the board from the control panel frame. Next use a soft cloth (not a paper towel) with a non-ammonia cleaner and wipe off the front of the glass VFD and the rear of the display window in the plastic frame. That may buy you some time.
