Model Number: MCB1110W Brand: Magic Chef Age: Less than 1 year
THe microwave willjust randomly turn on with a 3.5 on the display and then run without any intervention. The only way to stop it is to open the door. Can someone tell me how to correct this problem.
After a couple of weeks of unplugging the microwave, it now refuse to work whenever I wanna use it, the keypad isn't responding to my touch. I have to wait of it to auto start and check the timer in order to stop it (opening the door) for the period I need to heat to. Related Models |

You have a shorting membrane keypad. If and when an oven is coming on or doing anything by itself, this is very dangerous and can result in a fire.
So until it is repaired, please leave it unplugged or leave the door open when it's not in use, and please do not leave it running unattended. If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved. If you would like to have us do this repair for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs. But please note that for some models, the membrane keypad is not available as a separate part, so you would have to order the control panel frame assembly or control pane assembly, which comes with a new keypad. That would run more, but it's something most folks could swap themselves. Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

When it starts running by itself, put a cup of water in the cavity to prevent damage to the oven and see if it heats the water. If no, you need to adjust the door latch assembly.
