Question How difficult to change smartboard?
Model Number: JVM1650WH01   Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

The unit will start a microwaving cycle and then two seconds into the warming time it shuts off. The all the lights on the display light up and it says reset clock. Resetting the clock clears the display and allows you to start the microwaving cycle again, but it quits again 2 seconds into the cycle. A repairman came to our home and said we needed a new smartboard, but then it started working properly and we didn't have it fixed. Now it is acting up again. Also when we installed the microwave we turned the motor so that it vents into the room. When we tested the motor both the high and low setting works. After installing it though only the high setting works. The microwave cooking is a new problem. However the fan is an old problem. How do we fix the fan and how difficult is it to change the smartboard?

Gene has much to be proud of
Default

Most likely there is the electromagnetic waves leakage from the magnetron tube which interferes with the control board causing the control board to shut off and reset by itself.

The correction is to replace the magnetron tube, not the control board.

- The part number for the magnetron tube is AP2025937

In order to replace the magnetron tube the microwave has to be removed from the cabinet. At this time you can check wires to the fan motor.
