Default Amana ACO1840A Just Went Dead
Model Number: AC01840AC   Brand: Amana   Age: 1 - 5 years

My Amana Over the Range Microwave just went dead. (no power or lights) was working fine. I just put a cup of coffee in it to heat up for 1 minute and it ran for 5 seconds and just went dead. I checked the breaker and pluged a light into the outlet and it worked so I know the outlet still works. I unpluged the microwave for an hour and pluged it back in but still no signs of life. Please help -- Any ideas.

Open the control panel and check all fuses in accordance with the wiring diagram (should be inside).

- Here are the break down diagrams for the Amana microwave Model ACO1840AC

Gene I got the control panel opened and checked the 20A inline fuse it was fine. Put a meter on both sides of the fuse holder got a 120 reading.
There is a Mgt. Themal Fuse under the grill but I can't get to it short of taking the unit down then apart and maybe getting back together. Any other ideas?????? Thanks for your help to date.

Did you find the wiring diagram?

Besides the line fuse it has two thermal fuses: one is the magnetron TCO (attached to the magnetron) and the second is the cavity TCO (located on the left side of the microwave).

You have to remove remove the microwave from the cabinet and take it apart to get access.
