Model Number: 565.68420790 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years
My microwave's magnetron needs to be replaced. The magnetron is a Sanyo 2M219HB, and I was wondering if it can be replaced with a 2M219JB. The specs appear identical, with the only noticeable difference being that the plug is on the bottom instead of on the side. Does anyone know if it would work? Thanks!

I do not think they are interchangeable due to different configuration.

Configuration is the relationship between the mounting ears, the vents (airflow) and the filament leads. Manufacturers have designated letter codes for various configurations.
The configuration of the magnetron 2M219HB is "H" and the configuration of the magnetron 2M219JB is "J". Gene.

Thanks for the info. The two magnetrons appear identical in every way, except for the filament leads coming out of a different side. So if I installed it, it would fit perfectly except the filament leads would be pointing up instead of left. As long as the wires reach, it should work, right? Would you happen to know what the "B" represents?

Tom,
What you said sounds right except that if the filament leads will point to a metal microwave parts or to the outer case within a short insufficient distance to them it can cause an electrical short due to high (4.1 KV) voltage. You have to make sure it is going to be safe to use the microwave. Gene.
