Default Keypad doesnot work
Model Number: R-209BK (Sharp)   Brand: -other-   Age: 1 - 5 years

Can somebody help with this please -
This is a Sharp, R-209BK model. Microwave display panel has blinking 88.88, but none of the keys on pad works. Microwave is fairly brand new (Keypad plastic cover is still on). Few weeks ago I had the same problem but it worked after few days of rest.
Any ideas what could be wrong. I do not mind repairing if it costs anything below $30 to $40, instead of buying a new one.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks

Default keypad/display connectors

I think I may have found the problem with keypad/display panel connectors. I have cleaned and removed the dust coating on the copper connectors that connects to ckt board. Microwave works perfect now, but the STOP/CLEAR button is not working. I can live with that.

Thnx

Close, but you probably need to clean both sides of the rubber zebra strip as shown in this similar drawing below.

You really should have the Stop/Clear pad working, since opening the door while it's cooking eventually ruins the door switches.
