Hi Mark, Unfortunately we cannot do access any Panasonic technical information. Possible the magnetron was bad from the beginning. It's hard to say if it's worth any repair. Personally, I do not like Panasonic microwaves, but it does not mean they are much worse than others. I also do not like microwaves with inverters because I do not see why they should be better for us as consumers and repair people.

Gene.

If it stops after 22 seconds, that means the controller has detected a problem, usually with the inverter, magnetron, controller, or a connection from one to the other.

The magnetron may have been intermittent.

Expansion and contraction from heating can occur, making it short when hot, then open when cold.

Most part suppliers will let you return a part (as unneeded) if you've not soldered it or installed it, although they may hit you with a restocking charge.

You may find a better part price for the magnetron at Encompass (formerly Tritronics) here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

You said "mains" and 240V... In the owner's manual it says it's rated for 120VAC.

This a Canadian model, right?

If you're not in the US, never mind the supplier I recommended.

I think they only sell to US customers.

I don't care for inverter-based microwaves, either, at least from the buyer's point of view.

More complexity means a higher chance of failure.

As a technician, I don't mind troubleshooitng and repairing the inverters, of course, but that's a different matter.

Default Nns540

Hi, I have an NNS540 with a burnt out inverter board (the rightmost of the three big black transistors mounted on the heatsink looks like it blew, taking a couple of resistors with it). Magnetron is fine. I'm curious if you fixed yours, and if not if you would be interested in selling me one of your inverters (if you don't think it was the problem). I'm not sure if the two boards are the same between the NNS560 and 540 however.

Anyway, if I can't get mine working, I have a useless bunch of parts.

Thanks,
Joshua

Inverters for the US versions of the NNS540xxx and NNS560xxx are the same, part number A606Y4T00AP.

I'm not sure if the New Zealand versions of those use the same inverter though.

If you (Joshua) are in the US, you can order the inverter from Encompass (formerly Tritronics). Or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Default Inverter price too high

Well, let's see, I paid $120 for the microwave 9 years ago. The replacement part is $170. Looks like my trash can will be a little heavy this weekend. (I'll actually try to recycle some of the sheet metal, and I'll save the magnetron for the fun of it.

Default T702 Part number

Do you know the transistor part number for T702? The far right transistor. Mine is blown and I can't read the part number. All other parts look good. I have a NN-S560WF microwave.

Thanks,
Gary

Default part number on T702

Unfortunately mine went up in smoke as well - the whole front of the thing was charcoal. The left one was fine, at least visibly.

Thanks, mine too. Only the right one fried and I can't find the part number. All the other parts tested OK on my board.
