Model Number: KHHC2090SSS Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 1 - 5 years
I have a 2007 Kitchenaid Microwave with all the features on earth and it was very expensive. It is now showing an Error Code F7 about 20-22 seconds into trying to cook something but the item is not getting heated at all. Called a local service guy and he is saying that code could mean the Relay Board, Inverter, or the Magnatron. He said the repair could be upwards of $600 to replace all that. I have done repair to my fridge and stove and both went fine and save be lots of money. Trying to see if I can do that hear as well. Anyone had this before and it is likely the Magnetron that is the issue? Are there spec sheets showing how to get at these parts? Any advice on whether or not I should take this on???
Thanks for any advice. Brian. Ads By Google Related Models |

Anyone our there with any knowledge on this? Most talk I have read seems to point to changing the magnatron or Mag Tube or whatever people want to call it. I imagine I could figure out how to do that but was hoping someone had some experience and advice on this one??? Would greatly appreciate it. This microwave was really expensive so I want to figure out if it is worth saving.

Brian,
You missed the last digit in the model number. Gene.

The model numbers ended on 0, 1 or 2 are different.
According to the Tech sheet (attached to the reply), the "F7" error code means "Power to magnetron interrupted". The troubleshooting procedure described in the Tech sheet. Be very careful because of high voltage inside the microwave. Follow all safety instructions in the Tech sheet. Wow. Thanks Gene. Appreciate your help and just read over the tech sheet. Holy Cow! Not sure what most of that means unforunately. Says to "check" various things but one I get to that thing I am not sure what to do to check it? If I take it apart and find these items how do I "check" them. Honestly speaking should most DYI guys like myself take this one on? Maybe once I take it apart it will all make more sense but I suspect you know whether most regular guys should really open up one of these things or not?? Thanks again!

Are there any step by step instructions that would more clearly detail what I need to do to get to the areas mentioned and how to test them or anything? Or, if it is most likley the magnatron, are there instructions on how to replace it?

This microwave is much more sophisticated than most other. I would recommend to call a pro to diagnose and fix it.
Gene. P.S. I do not think the magnetron itself is bad.
