Default microwave front panels need replacing
Model Number: JVM1630WB004   Brand: GE   Age: 5 - 10 years

The front door plastic outer panel and the accompanying plastic front bezel which surrounds the control panel are both cracked and broken. They are directly above a stove which has a high power gas burner directly below these two parts. Probably cracked from the heat. Both parts are replaceable, I believe, but how to replace them is a mystery. No attaching hardware is visible. Do I need to pull the microwave out of the support shell to get at some of the hardware or are they snap on pieces ? If they are snap on's, do I simply snap the old ones off, not paying attention to additional breakage of the removed parts ?

Hi perltech

Unplug the power cord or turn off the circuit breaker for the microwave.
In order to replace the control panel frame you have to remove the top grill (#70 on the break down diagram) first, then remove the screw on top of the control panel, push it up to release from the tabs and pull toward yourself.

To replace the outer door frame you have to remove the inner door frame first which is holding in place with a few tabs around the frame. Then remove two screws holding the door handle and remove the door handle.
Now you can work with the outer door frame. Be careful with all tabs.

- The part number for the new control panel frame AP2017933

- The part number for the new outer door frame AP2033286

- Here is the break down diagram for the GE microwave Model JVM1630WB004

Good luck.
Gene.
