I have inherited slightly used microwave and I am installing it. I had to create a new outlet, since my old unit was just a vent and did not have the outlet. So, to the existing wire from vent, I have installed 15 amp GFCI outlet to plug in the Microwave. It worked for few hours, but GFCI lost power. I reset the GFCI and worked for few hours and lost power again. After I reset third time, I heard little clicking sound and now GFCI is dead.

What I am trying to figure out is if GFCI is bad or I used wrong amp of GFCI. GE recommended 15 amp, but my wire is connected to 20 amp house fuse so should I use 20 amp GFCI instead? This wire is also connecting my refrigerator, and ignition for cook top and another outlet. Maybe I am overloading the line?

I need some basic wiring info. Can someone help me on this?
