Dear Sir/Madam: My microwave hood had a problem that when it is turned on, it does not provide heat but comes buzzing noise. I suspect it has at least one of components failed such as HV diode, capacitor, or magnetron. after taking these parts out, I made the test for each of them. The test results are as below: (Meter: Fluke 87) The HV Diode measure continuity: -both forward and reverse are Infinity. So it is BAD! The HV Capacitor: -terminal to terminal slightly indicates ohms moving. -terminal to case: Infinity. So it seems Okay The Magnetron: Measure resistance: -Filament terminal less than 1 ohm -Filament to Chassis is about 300 ohms I am not sure if is normal!! I would greatly appreciate it if you could advise if I should replace the Magnetron and how I can find root cause for the failure of diode and Magnetron. Best regards, Ming
