Kenmore (think it's a Whirlpool if I looked up the 665 right) microwave and hood combo.

Just went dead. No lights no nuthing.
Checked socket - it's live.

Am aware there are thermal fuses and maybe a circuit breaker inside - but are they relatively easy for me to locate and check?

Reasonable skills - don't mind dissasembly.
Have a decent multimeter as well.

Thanks!

Sorry - one more. I see a Fuse in the sears diagram but am not exactly sure how to get to it.

Wondering if it looks like its accessible by coming up through the bottom - or do I have to slide the unit out of the rack holding it up above the stove?

Thanks

You will need a meter to check things. Remove the side screws from the right side panel and tilt down. Locate the fuse inside. If blown, order a new one by clicking on your model # above. Replace the fuse close door and check for a short across the power plug, if none locate the high voltage capacitor, an oval aluminum item and short across the terminals. Now check ohms across it, replace if shorted, if ok, plug in microwave, select cook and put a container of water in cavity before turning on the unit.If fuse is still good, you will probably be good to go.

Thanks! I have no idea what happened but it's working again.

The fuse is indeed behind the panel. You pull off the upper grating and then there's one screw on top holding the panel in. Unscrew, tilt panel forward. Fuse was right there. Pulled it out and dragged it to the meter. It was still good...

Went to do an errand, put fuse back and prepared to call repairman. Plugged it back in, for some reason, and it powered back up...

Go figure!

But thanks for the help on the fuse location.
No idea why it's back alive, but it's back alive!
