Replace Microwave Outer Door Glass Panel
Model Number: JMV9169BAP Brand:

As I was opening the door on our over-the-range Jenn-Air convection microwave this morning, the exposed right-hand edge of the outer door glass panel hit the plate I was holding and shattered (a very poor design, in my opinion, but I digress...).
Jenn-Air quoted me $575 for an entire door assembly, however I was able to remove and disassemble the door and am quite confident I could replace the outer glass panel myself; it simply slides into upper and lower slots in the door frame and is held in place by the handle screws which pass though holes in the glass.
So, my first question is, can I get my hands on a replacement Jenn-Air glass panel and, if so, where? The alternative would be to have a local glass shop fabricate, drill and temper a replacement glass panel for about $50, but I would prefer to have the factory part with the Jenn-Air logo.
The second part of my question is, are there any special considerations I should be aware of when undertaking this repair, such as, will it be necessary to have the unit tested for microwave leaks once it is put back together?
Thanks for any assistance!
