Thank you, Gene. The small turntable coupler part arrived at my doorstep (surprisingly rapid shipment from Pennsylvania) and I've successfully installed it. Things are back to normal.

Your help was much appreciated.

Thanks again for your help. I read the instructions, but I don't think it's a problem with the diode. While I haven't tested it, it doesn't show any of the physical signs that it is worn out.

The buzzing sound is coming from something that is on the circuit board in the control panel. When I unplug the wire going into the board (power source?), it stops. The diagram doesn't show the layout for that board.

So what kind of noise: humming or buzzing?

It is almost not possible to visually test an electronic and/or electrical parts, and guessing is not the best way to fix appliances.

Turntable does not rotate. I removed the plate to check if the rotor was moving and it was not. Do I need to replace the motor? If yes, how do I go about it?

Check if there is 120 VAC to the turntable motor while the microwave is On.

If the voltage is correct, replace the turntable motor.

If the voltage is incorrect, replace the control board.

Hi Gene,

I also have a GE Model JVM1860WD001 and the turntable won't spin. I followed instructions above and could not lift the coupler out. I tried prying a little but did not want to force it. If I turn the coupler a little by hand I can hear the motor gears. When it went out the turntable looked like it was trying to turn. sort of stuttering is best way to describe it. Any suggestions. Thanks.

In such situation more likely the problem is a bad turntable motor. Remove the bottom panel and check for 120 VAC to the motor while the microwave is ON. If the coupler has kind of latch, then it's on the bottom and can be accessed from the motor side. In case if you accidentally break the coupler this part is inexpensive and you get replacement part for only $6.71
