We have an Advantium oven that the outer window cracked. Ordered an entire new door assy. but not sure how to remove old door? Do I disassemble hinge somehow or does it slide off hinge like an oven door? Thanks

You need to open the door, and down at the hinge, you will see a hole on each hinge. you will need to get something small enough to go through the hole on each side, and strong enough so it wont break, like a nail. once you have something in those holes, push the door like your closing it, and the hinges will release from inside the cavity. If I'm not mistaken, the new door will come with plastic deals so you can easily put the new door on. Hope I was clear enough.

Default Thanks

Your instructions worked great. I used two small S hooks and the door came off so easy. The new door did not come with anything to help install it so i used a clothes hanger to pull the new hinge out far enough to insert an S hook and then reversed the procedure. GE was no help in this unfortunately as they only have the same owners manual as I have. The 'technician' also said they did not have the new door assy to sell me because those items would have to be installed by a technician and then a leak check would be required. I do not see why a leak check would be needed for something like this were it is only one way off/on with no adjustment on the hinge?

Thanks again

I'm about to replace the whole door of my Jenn Air JMV8000BAB and had the same question. It looks simple to slide the old one out and the new one in, but the company said we'd need a professional or fancy device to check for microwave leaks. Is that just their way of saying, "buy a new microwave instead of fixing the one you have," or is this a real concern that we should check?

I can only speak for the company I work for, but we are required to do a microwave leak check anytime we change a door. It's not a companies way of telling you to buy a new oven, but simply their way of covering theirselves from lawsuits. I have done many door replacements and many repairs to microwaves, and have yet to find a m/w leak.

Thanks so much, appreciate your quick answer. That makes sense, is there any possibility of me renting the device to check it or is that something to hire a professional to do? Thanks again!

Default we have the same problem

We are on our 3rd door. All the doors have had the outer glass crack. Were anyone tell you what caused this issue?
