Question GE Microwave Issue
Brand: GE   Age: 1 - 5 years

We have a 2002 GE microwave that we use primarily for heating water for our coffees in the morning. It just suddenly stopped functioning. The panel light is on with the code -F3-. It beeps periodically 3 times and then reads this -F3- in the display panel.

We do not have an owners manual....anyone know what this code means?

Also, does it hurt a microwave to continually use it to heat up water?

Thanks,
Jerry

Default

F3 on a GE / Hotpoint microwave means you have a shorted keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.
