Default how to install charcoal filter?
Model Number: PNM1871SMSS   Brand: GE   Age: Less than 1 year

The PNM1871SM microwave said in the product details that it included JX81B recirculating Charcoal Filter Kit. My unit did not seem come with this part as far as I could tell. So, I called GE and they sent me one. The instructions that came with the kit don't seem to match my microwave...the microwave in the diagram showing installation doesn't look anything like the microwave that I have. My microwave's vent is one that is spring loaded and it opens when you turn the vent on. There is no grill, the air shoots out up through the hing when it opens...it is just has a flat surface. I need help understanding how to install this kit or even if it possible to do so.

Here is a link to my unit: http://products.geappliances.com/App...KU=PNM1871SMSS

Thank you

Remove the grille, the part that opens. Above the grille assembly, top of m/w there are 2 screws, remove them. now open the m/w door, grab the grille and slide the assembly to the left then pull off, you can then put the filter in. hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply...I don't see the screws on the top the microwave, i have about a 1.5" of the top sticking out from under the cabinet, are they further back than that?

Yes, you will have to drop the m/w down to get to the screws.
