sorry, didn't really search high-n-low, "diminishing returns". ereplacement parts didn't carry my model number (WJRR4170...), so i just caved and went with GE replacement parts, came out to $199 with...

How can I replace transmission bearing?
i discovered yesterday that i have exactly this same problem, but ordered the replacement transmission. will try to remove the bearing from the old one and see what i can do, so that when it fails...
