Warm Fridge
You have a refrigerant leak, probably the evaporator seal. If it all leaks out the compressor will get internal damage. Still, It would be about a $400 repair.
Freezer and fridge both warm and not consistent
Turn your temperature controls to midrange and put the portable fan in the compressor area and see if you now get "normal " temperatures.
Compressor replacement
Apparently, your new compressor requires no run capacitor as it does not supply a terminal for it.

Only way to confirm is with a gauge on the low side of compressor.

Probably both, if it failed over a short period of time, you have an evaporator leak which ruins the compressor.
maytag fridge problems
Pull the freezer panel and check the frost pattern, total, heavy frost, or partial.

Feel the compressor. If it is vibrating but tubing not hot, you have a bad compressor/ refrigerant leak. Might want to try a new compressor start device to confirm.
