This sounds like a top loading clothes washer? Many of these units have spring type clips that hold the top in place (it looks kind of like the spade on a playing card when you get it uncovered).... |

When I looked at the new part I discovered that none of the plugs are the same and they all only go into one place :rolleyes: Got it in and one of my dauchters is already washing clothes :) |

You never did say if you are on a well or city water, though this sometimes does not matter. Have you had your water tested to see if it is hard water? It may be heavy with iron, lime or calcium,... |

I thought you might check the drain hole in the floor of the dishwasher where the grinder/cutter is that allows very dirty dishes to be washed as it clears the food debris and makes it small enough... |

I think I found the problem. The main control board has a burned spot on it. There is a small hole where the burn is. I am now looking for a new control board. |
