Dryer in stack unit will start and run fine intermittently?
The exhaust vent coming off should not affect the dryer itself. I think that is a red herring. The dryer really doesn't care if it vents into the room or not. It has no way to tell. Vents detaching...
No Heat- Replaced Multiple Parts and Need Help
Quick guess is your motor - the centrifugal switch on them closes to provide 1 of the 2 120v feeds to the element when the motor is spinning. Changed many of these motors for this issue.

I can't find your model #, double check it for me?

But if it's a modern GE unitized set the tub seal comes out the bottom I believe, on the trans shaft.

You still need the tub free from the shaft...

Good job. Many times even getting the thin one in is a challenge, depends on how fresh the brakes are too.

1st guess - You may have to adjust that thrust bearing on the bottom. I assume you mean you installed the thrust bearing kit, with pulley, cam, 2 washers, bearing etc...?

If you pop the dustcap off...
