Red face First Water Heater: Rinse first?
Model Number: brand: Ruud   Brand: -brand-   Age: Less than 1 year

Appliance Parts from AppliancePartPros.com

Hi y'all. Mom and dad kicked me out , now I'm in my first house, new appliances, all that good stuff
My question: I got a brand new gas hot water heater installed today (the brand is "Ruud" and it's 50 gallons I think). Is there brand-new "manufacturing debris" inside that should be rinsed out first?

Like, in the factory when they build the water heater, isn't there fiberglass or powder or particles in the big empty tank that should be rinsed before I do my very first laundry? I don't want my clothes to come out all itchy and I can't afford to buy new clothes to replace them if they do.

What do you guys think?

You should not have to rinse it out.

But if you want to you can by opening the drain and letting it run until the water is clean.

It is a good idea to do this every 6 months or once a year as sediment can gather at the bottom of the tank.
