Hello,

I am hoping someone can help me out here... we just turned our heater on a day or two ago to test it out for winter, and.... no heat. It turns on, fan is running, etc., but the ignitor seems to not work. We bought this house about 9 months ago, and was told by the previous owner that he had replaced the ignitor twice since he bought the heater new, 17 years earlier; he also left me a new ignitor in case it happened again.

I swapped out the old ignitor for the new, but nothing has changed.

I am getting a blinking red light at the bottom of the unit; it blinks four times. Does anyone have any information that might help me out?

Look on the service panel for an explanation of what 4 blinks means and report back. not all are the same. I would guess a rollout switch has probably popped out. Newer furnaces use an electric igniter to light the flames, a sensor will detect the flame and all will be well. When the heat rises in these furnaces a clixon throws the fan on and you have warm air coming out of the vents. If the fan fails to come on then a series of rollout switchs

arrow: reset button. down below the burners are usually 2 of them. If you had a cobweb or a rusty partially plugged burner the flame will do the the old poof thang and cause these to pop out. So be sure to clear the smoke stack vacuum out the chamber and remove rust from the burners. Make sure the power is off. The rollouts bite!
