Default No Heat/no Ac
Model Number: ACE 184XHO   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

I have a window unit that heats and cools. I notice a burning smell the last couple of nights. I thought it was coming from the outside. I notice the unit was running (fan) but not heating tonight. I then tried to turn on the ac it would blow but the compressor would not turn on. any suggestions?

Sounds like maybe some control wireing shorted out. Have you opened up the unit? Is there any obivous damage? How much was the unit new?

You can ohm out the thermostat control and see if it is closeing or opening as it should. If you have a meter.
