Default Only 1 fan speed / Unit turns itself off
Model Number: ACQ184XMO   Brand: Whirlpool   Age: 1 - 5 years

Hi,
Hoping someone can help. I have a Whirlpool AC unit that hasn't been working right lately. At the end of last year, the fan selection stopped working. There was only 1 speed, but it was keeping the house cool. So far this summer, it has been doing ok. With the heatwave in the Northeast, the unit seems to be bogging down. After a period of time, the unit will shut itself off. I did not want to do anything, since the major parts are still under warranty, but now don't have a choice. I am somewhat handy, and can use a meter to test for shorts/opens/etc. I do not have the wiring diagram, but do have the parts breakdown. What I am looking for is someone to point me to what I should be checking, and if I am looking for a short/open. Also if there are any voltages which I could check to verify something, that would be a big help. Thanks in advanced.

Ken
