Thermostat or...

Model Number: ACE184XD1 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 5 - 10 years

In the Summer the AC compressor would not shut off & unit would turn to ice and now the heat will not come on. Fan works, but heater doesn't come on. Is this the thermostat or something tricky?
