I am changing a evap coil in my house and the tank I was going to use to recover my freon has some already in it [clean] and I did not want to mix it if the oils were different. I could pump the freon into the compressor but am not sure about that procedure.

Most A/C's are R-22, just recently they have switched to R-410A, so you should be good to go.
You mean pump-down into the condenser. If you tell me your qualifications I will explain. |

Thanks, yes into the condensor, I got it, that was so easy, It did not take long at all to complete that project. I work on all the ac units where I work, but we dont have split units there and we have not had to pump any down, they are 25 ton units. We change compressors, reversing valves etc and do the maintenance and cleaning on them. I am a type 1 and 2 technician, but i am new to alot of this but I am learning. I am a fast learner and really enjoy working with hvac units. I was concerned that the larger compressor would have different oil than the small compressor on my home unit. Thanks for offering to help. Gregg

Place you gauges on the unit. Shut down the high side valve. Watch your guages till the low side reads zero PSI. Shut down unit. Close off all valves. It ain't rocket science. The suction side will yank all of the existing freon out of the unit, with the high side closed the unit will pump itself down.
