My LG compressor sounds like it pulses up and down when running. I have had several window units but don't remember this sound. It is less noticeable during the day with other outside sounds drowning it out but at night is very noticeable and drives me nuts. I had a tech here and he said he could replace the compressor but the new one would probably sound the same. Would this be some fluctuation in the ac line that would cause this? I checked and I have 117vac where the unit it plugged in. It is an older house with older wiring. The plug never gets warm so I don't think I am taxing the wiring. If it is a line issue, is there something I can buy to steady the current to that the motor doesn't oscillate up and down like that? The fan motor doesn't seem to vary in speed.
