Tadaa, just found this myself, Whirlpool Corporation's instruction sheet for replacing that failed coupling.
http://www.marbeck.com/9704230_Installation.pdf We have the same problem. looking at the forums, so do thousands. KitchenAid for the way it's made? Seems it fails pretty regularly, too. _______________________________ Some scientists claim that hydrogen, because it is so plentiful, is the basic building block of the universe. I dispute that. I say there is more stupidity than hydrogen, and that is the basic building block of the universe. - Frank Zappa |

You can go to this website: KitchenAid Blender Drive Coupling
This will explain how to remove the coupling. I have had my blender for about 7 years and it just went bad! At least it's a cheap replacement! Hope this helps ya! |

I found the easiest way to remove the coupler on the KitchenAid forum:
Unplug the blender Look at the bottom of the blender See the openings Turn the coupler and see what spins Put a small screwdriver in the openings until the coupler refuses to turn take a channellock pliars and turn the coupler clockwise Because it is reverse threaded, this will remove the coupler keep the screwdriver inserted Install the new coupler by turning counterclockwise until hand tight The blender motion keeps the coupler tight on the shaft |
I have the subject blender, the rubber coupling drive is breaking and needs replacing. Does anyone know if it just pops off with some lever action or there is another mechanism for removing/reinstalling it? Model is KSB5.
thanks
Instruction Sheet for KitchenAid Blender Coupling Drive Installation 1) Unplug Blender 2) With blender facing you, insert flat blade screwdriver (3/8 to 7/16 inch) between the black coupling drive and the blender housing. 3) Raise up on the screwdriver to turn the coupling drive clockwise (it is a left hand thread so the coupler keeps tight during use).
