Default kitchenaid mixer

KitchenAid MSM5 325W I was looking for a place to oil my kitchenaid and mistakenly took out one of the brushes. When I tried to replace it, the motor did not work. I think I put it in wrong and now it will not come out. I ordered 2 new brushes (might as well replace both) Order does not come with instructions on how to replace since they are not square and the hole is. Any suggestions on how to get the old one out. It crumbles when I try to grab it with tweezers.
